WPL: Miscellaneous Trends
Portable computers followed by laptops and then notebooks introduced mobility into workplace learning. Smart phones and tablets with their dual capabilities for wireless Internet and telephone connectivity are providing 24 x 7 always-on connectivity. One consequence of this connectivity has been to blur the lines between workspace and personal space.
Mobile and Social Learning Trends
Josh Bersin delivered a presentation on mobile and social learning trends at the HR Technology Conference in October of 2011. These are the slides. Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate any accompanying audio so you will have to infer some of the information presented on the basis of the information on the slides.

The Promise: enhancement, engagement and empowerment
An elephant-sized myth-perception: If we build it or provide it they will come and use it!
It’s not about the efficacy of the technology although arguments for and against are usually framed as though it is.
Human behaviour is seldom the focus of discussions about the issues and dilemmas facing those responsible for the training function or delivering training in this precarious landscape.
What we are really talking about when we are introducing something new into the work place is – How do we change well-established behaviours?
If you have studied psychology or addictions you know that behaviour change is a really difficult task. The CLO's Latest Request
The CLO is at it again. She has realized, belatedly, that in order to implement the technologies being proposed (iPads & social networking) there are human factors to be considered. How do we go about changing the organizational culture and engaging people at an individual level in the ongoing change process? You have a month to come up with a plan. Help!
